07/26/2004 - My first entirely digital journey!
by John A Anderson |
Well, I just got back from a short jaunt to New Mexico and SW Colorado. My latest images are in the "100% Digital" Gallery. I have been using the Konica-Minolta A2, 8megapixel Camera with a fixed 28mm - 200mm f2.8-3.5, fixed zoom. Superlative! That's the best word for the quality of this new camera.
I shot everything in Camera RAW format and processed the images in Photoshop© CS. The digtal workflow requires some major forethought and after a bit of planning, I was able to keep my CF Memory cards active and empty on a daily basis. I'd dump them to the Hard drive on my Tablet PC and then write them off to CD's in the evening in my hotel room.
Digital is here to stay, folks and quality digital images are easier that you might expect. Check it out!

01/23/2004 - New Photos by Barry Sharp
by John A Anderson |
Check out these fine images by my firend and student, Mr. Barry Sharp. Barry's work is great and I'm glad he took me up on my offer to show his stuff on Northern Disclosure. It's my guess we'll see many more very soon! Barry's images are for sale, so click on his email link for pricing and information. Barry was nice enough to include his bio along with his submissions. Keep 'em comin', Barry! bsharpphotography@comcast.net
"I grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa on the banks of the Mississippi River, watching the passing of trains, riverboats, and barges, which instilled the wanderlust at an early age. I have traveled extensively to 49 of the 50 United States, ironically leaving Delaware our first state as the last to cross off my list. International travel includes Canada, Mexico, and many parts of Western Europe. I have always been amazed at the great diversity of the United States and this has been my inspiration to attempt to capture it through my photography. I shoot primarily landscape photography, but have extensive experience in shooting live performances and enjoy the challenges associated with utilizing available lighting. In addition to photography, I have developed a matting and framing business which still gives me a thrill to start with an idea, capture the image, then mat and frame it to a finished product. My photography is 100% digital utilizing the Nikon D100."
(PS: I offered to carry his bags on that trip to the Kenai River...no lock! BUT, he did bring back me a bunch of his Salmon...I think I ate the 3rd one from the right? John)

10/14/2003 - Another fine guest artist added! John Munro
by John A Anderson |
Here's the Bio of the latest Guest Artist on Northern Disclosure...John Munro. (Oh, did I mention that John is one of my Photoshop students?) Here's what John has to say about his fine work:
"I am an amateur photographer specializing in landscape and travel photography. My emphasis comes from my education (BA and MA - Geography), my profession (Cartographer), and my basic interest in the natural world. Both of these specializations combined with my interests have given me a good sense of the landscape and landform development as well as the world and the diverse cultures that a traveler may experience. I have been into photography off and on since I obtained my first SLR (Minolta SRT-101) in 1968 but since I began approaching retirement I have concentrated on the basic techniques and I think I have finally learned the proper techniques of exposure and composition allowing me to move from a snapshooter to a photographer. Currently I shoot with the Nikon line of cameras and lenses; namely the F100 for film work and the D100 for digital work. Most of my compositions are shot with a tripod and cable release to achieve maximum depth of field (DOF). I especially enjoy shooting at the edge of day when the colors are warm and vivid and the shadows cool."
THANKS, John...send more!

09/23/2003 - New Guest Artist Added ! Jacqueline J. Penner
by John A Anderson |
I really enjoy seeing the work of up and coming artists here at Northern Disclosure Photography. Stop by our Visiting Artist's Gallery to view a few shots by JJ Penner of Garden City, Kansas. She recently purchased a Nikon N75 and took it out for a test run at the wedding of her youngest son. Great shots, JJ! She told me that photography is something she's wanted to return to for quite a long time...her pictures say it all...you go girl!
Keep up the good work!
If you have images you'd like for me to display, click on the "submissions" link, follow the directions and I'll be happy to help you share them with the world.

09/10/2003 - Please Be Patient!!
by John A Anderson |
Hey, Folks. I've had several kind folks submit photos and I have been remiss in getting them posted....SORRY, GUYS! With the start of the Fall Semester where I teach College....among other things...AND with the GD F*ing Worm that fat little puke in the midwest released, I've been burried with "stuff". (Seriously, I hope somebody takes that tub-o-guts and fillets his ass in public!) And then, on top of all the rest, the wondeful folks at Adobe asked me to be a BETA Tester for them...whewww!
So, I'will be getting yer stuff on the page real soon. Thanks for your patience! BTW, could you, who have submitted work PLEASE send me bigger image sizes to work with - like 800X600 @72ppi. Either that, or please enroll in one of my Photoshop classes and I'll help you get this stuff figured out!!!
One option might be to just send me the images on a CD and I'll do the rest. My mailing address is on the splash screen on the Home page.
Thanks so much,
JOHN
